There is a new release of ODIN on the Netlabs FTP server. ODIN is the Open Source project to provide a win32 API for OS/2 and eComStation. Originally to allow OS/2 users to run Windows 32 bit applications. Now used to port windows applications to OS/2 and eComStation. The Odin runtime is a requirement for the newest developed versions of JAVA and Flash 10 for OS/2 and eCS.

You must have already noticed that IBM is celebrating 100 years from being found. The company has published a nice essay for The Wall Street Journal, summarizing the past 100 years and discussing why the company has survived so long. The essay also mentions OS/2, although as an example of failure: With IBM’s OS/2 operating system, we hung on long after the industry had voted against it.
